2019-2020 Nordic Ski Booster Pot Luck Dinner/Wax Clinic
Parents and Skiers
Here is some information for the Nordic Ski Booster Pot Luck Dinner, a chance to find out about the Booster Club as well as meet other parents, as well as the athletes and coaches. We will also have a wax clinic by Matt Liebsch for both parents and athletes so you know what it takes to have skis ready for a race.
Date: Tuesday, December 3, 2019
Location: Coon Rapids High School Cafeteria
Time: 6:00 start time for dinner
What to bring: This is a pot luck event. It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring the following suggested items to share. 
Seniors: Beverages
Juniors: Salads
Sophomores: Main Meal
Freshmen and Under: Desserts
Silverware, plates and additional drinks will be provided

Please account for the size of the team. We have 44 members on the team this year, plus family members, and four coaches.

Week Ahead

Here is the schedule for this week:
Monday, weight training after school then leave for Elm at 4:00, on skate skis
Tuesday, Practicing after school, we will be on foot with Poles
Wednesday, due to what is look like enough snow to make difficult to rollerski, we will be lifting at 9:00am, and then hope to go out to the pit to classic ski. If there is not enough snow, we will do a workout from the school.

Voting Update

Due to the fact that two of the leadership spots were so close (3-way tie for one of them) and that we did not get votes from most of the first years, we will be holding off until the end of practice on Monday to let the skiers know the leaders for this year. So, first years, let’s get and rock the vote!! 😁

Week Ahead

Here are a few things as we get going for the second week.
Monday: We will be practicing at normal time, doing weight training after school, then heading to Bunker to be on foot with Poles.  Also, please remember that our Parent Meeting will be at 6:00pm in room 004, downstairs.  Please enter at door 1.
Tuesday: We will be practicing on snow at Elm Creek, bus leaving at 4:00, start at 4:30 and leaving by 6:00.
Wednesday and Thursday: We will be on snow at Elm Creek, bus leaving at 5:40, start at 6:15 and leaving by 7:45.

Ski Swap

Below is a link to information for this weekends MYSL ski swap.  For those that have mentioned that want to volunteer, please be to Northern Star Council Base Camp by 7:00am so you can help with set up as well as other needs they may have.  For those that are looking for equipment, please let me know what you would like by Friday afternoon so I and those helping can be looking for those items.  But, this is a good location and opportunity to get some of the items needed for the upcoming season.  If you have any questions, please let me know,

Thursday and Friday Practices

We have made some changes for practice for the next two days, in which we discussed with the skiers.

For Thursday, we are going to have everyone meet after school as normal, but for those that have their own skis, we are going to have them head to Elm Creek at some point to get on snow. Our permits have been ordered but are not in yet, so they will have to pay for a pass.  For everyone else, we will be going in-depth with their technique for each skate and classics since the snow we received today eliminated a chance to be on wheels.  We will also be handing out skis after practice so we know if we need to pick any up at the ski swap on Saturday (more details on this tomorrow.)

For Friday, due to the early release from school for the football game and the number of team members heading to the game, we will not have practice. For those that want a workout for the day, we will give them ideas.

Parent Meeting

The Parent Meeting for the 2019-2020 Nordic Ski Team will be on Monday, November 18 at 6:00pm.  This meeting will be held in Room 004, which is in the basement of the high school.  We will cover the team handbook, team jackets and other clothing orders, the Winter Camp trip, the Booster Club and Fundraising, and any questions that any of you may have (i.e. equipment/ski’s).  We will also have Jan Guenther from Gear West to discuss some of the items that they sell and the importance of these items to have a positive experience this season.
