Congratulations to Abby Ellenbecker as she competed in the State Meet today at Giants Ridge. Abby started the day with a solid 49th out of 160 skiers in the skate race and then held on in crowded classic race finishing in 51st place overall. The courses are challenging, the competition the best in the State, and Abby mentioned when completed that she was exhausted and that she wouldn't have done anything differently, which is all we as a coaching staff can ask for, ones best effort and no regrets!
If you want to check out the results, you can find them here: State Meet
Also, on Wednesday we had two relay teams competing in the Charlie Banks Coaches Association Relays. Both teams finished in 8th place, with the Girls having to compete against 31 teams and the Boys against 29th. There were no individual results, but we had at least 2 top 5 finishes (Ricky 3rd, Olivia 5th), and two others that were probably in the top 10 (Lilah G and Jared).
Thanks to all of the support this season, and it has been a fun past week with the near team qualification for the Girls at the Section Meet, the number of JV/Jr High skiers that medaled on Saturday, the fun at the Pastry Relays, the solid performances at the Charlie Banks Relays and topping it off with Abby's all around performance at the State Meet! These are great things to celebrate and such a positive way to end the season, and things that can be built off of. The opportunity for improvement and even greater success is there, who is up for the challenge?!!

Results from today's Lakeville JV/Jr High are now posted on the right side of the blog. Once the overall meet results are sent out, I will post those as well.
But a solid day for those that skied this morning, with many coming home with hardware! This is always a fun meet, despite the challenging course, and one that our skiers usually do pretty well at. Once I see the overall results, I will post who were the medalists (so I don't mess up on what place they really were! lol)
Pastry Relay's are on Monday at Elm Creek, starting at 4:00. This is a fun, very low key event for the skiers, with many of them dressing in costumes. Always a good way to end the season. We will also have a laid back and fun practice, with games and relays, on Tuesday to bring everything to an end.
Thanks for those that came to watch and support today! Denny
Below are directions to the Lakeville JV/Jr High race that is on Saturday as well as a link to all of the information for the race, including a time schedule (first race is at 9:30). This is an age group race, so the races and awards will be grade based. It has been a fun meet for us in the past, and with the skiers getting to go against some different teams.
Any questions, let me know,

Congratulations to Abby Ellenbecker as she qualified for the State Meet with a solid 5th place finish in today's Section 5 Meet, leading the Girls to a 4th place team finish, just 6 points out of 2nd place thus missing out on qualifying as a team! The Girls also had two others finish in the top 20, with Olivia Ellenbecker finishing 13th and Lilah Gilyard 19th.
The Boys team finished in 7th place with 3 boys finishing in the top 25, Ricky Petroff 18th, Mitch Zandaroski 20th, and Jared Heida 24th.
Both Boys and Girls races were tight team and individual races, thus making for an exciting day of racing!
Our Individual results are now posted on the right side of the blog, and once the results are posted on skinnyski.com I'll put a link onto the blog as well. But, if you are wanting to see results, you can find them on gopherstateevents.com.
Thanks to Paul and Rick for helping with the skis today before and during the races, and to all of the parents that were there to watch and support today. Thanks also to the Ellenbecker's and all of those that donated food (I am not sure who did, sorry for missing you!!)
Below is a link to the Section Start List for tomorrow. Also, here is the time schedule for the meet:
Girls Classic: 10:00
Boys Classic: 11:00
Girls Skate Pursuit: 1:30
Boys Skate Pursuit: 2:30
Same as last week, if you can car pool, that will work best for the limited parking. The start and finish will be in the same area, a few minute walk from the main Wirth parking lot. The big white tent this week will have electricity, so we will be doing any waxing in that tent this week.
Practice on Monday will be at Elm Creek, with the bus leaving around 3:45. We would like for all of the skiers to be there, and varsity skiers to be ready to scrape their skis right after school, so they can be done before we leave.
