Week of November 29

Here are a few things for the week ahead.

First, the meet on Tuesday is cancelled and we will just practice as usual.

We will be in the weight room on Monday and Wednesday after school (2:30) and then after practice on Friday.

We will be on wheels on Monday, Tuesday, (Bunker) and Friday, and then on foot with poles on Wednesday (Wintercrest) and Thursday (Bunker).

As for Friday, with no school, we are going to have practice in the morning.  We have a bus for 9am on Friday and we will be going to Rum River Central.

Saturday will be another pole hike day at Battle Creek for those that can make it.  We are hoping everyone can make it so they can get in some great work on some hills that will make them stronger!!

Lastly, even with no school on Monday, Dec. 6, we will still have practice at 3:15, but we will be lifting before that at 2:30.

Thanks,
Denny

Winter Camp

Winter Camp is going to be Dec. 29-31 at Holiday Inn Express and Suite in Hayward, WI, skiing on area trails, including the Birkie Trail, and the cost is going to be $90.  A deposit of $50 can be made or a full deposit, your choice.  We do want to know who is going by Friday, Dec 10th so we know if we have to cancel any rooms.  There is a sign up sheet at school for the skiers to sign up on.  If there are any parents wanting to go, please let me know so I can put you on the list. This is NOT a mandatory event, but is a great way for the skiers to really improve their skiing skills. If there are issues with payment, please let me know. Checks can be made out to CRNSBC or you can use Venmo: CR Nordic @CRXCski, and please put down that it is for Winter Camp as well as the name(s) it is for so we can keep accurate track of who has paid.

More detailed information will come out later in December,
Thanks,
Denny

Nordic Night Fundraiser

CR Nordic Skiers- it's not too late to help your team with the Nordic Night fundraiser. If you are not signed up with a team but you CAN go, please just show up to The Christiansen's house by 1:00PM on Sunday. We can definitely help find or create a Team for you. This is a fun way to get to know your teammates and help the CR Nordic program. The plan is to meet at the Christiansen's house at 1pm on Sunday, address is: 3147 122nd Lane NW, Coon Rapids. It's close to the Coon Rapids Target. Remember to wear your Nordic wear or any Coon Rapids clothing you have.
Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you on Sunday!

Schedule Mistake

There was a mistake in a meet date on the schedule I had posted as well as what I handed out this week.  We do not have a meet on Tuesday, Dec 14th, it is actually on Thursday, Dec. 16th. I have changed it on the schedule and the printable schedule on the blog.

Sorry for any issues!
Denny

Week Ahead

Here are a few items as we get ready for the week ahead.  Please remember that there is a Parent Meeting tomorrow, Monday, evening.  We will start around 6:00pm in room 004, which is downstairs.  We will have someone at Door 3 (the old main entrance) with directions to the room.

As for practices, here is locations and what will be needed for the practices.  One thing to note, due to the bus driver shortage, at this moment we do not have a bus, so if we don't I will try to get notification out to everyone that we will be staying at school.  Also note that we try to practice until 5:00 to get the most out of our time, but will occasionally end at 4:45 if when we still have a bus ride.  Also, note that Wednesday and Saturday are not mandatory, but if people are able to be there, they are great opportunities to get some good work in.

Monday, on wheels, classic, at Bunker (bus to leave at 3:15).
Tuesday, on foot with poles, at Wintercrest Park (bus to leave at 3:15).
Wednesday, on wheels, skate, at Elk River (bus to leave at 8:00am), plan to be back around 11:00.  If we are not able to get a bus, we will discuss our options before Wedneday.
Saturday, on foot with poles, at Battle Creek Park in St Paul (bus to leave at 8:00am), plan to be back around 11:00.  We will discuss during the week pending weather as well as how many may be available.

Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

CR Nordic Night Fundraiser

"Reminder to all Parents of Nordic Skiers- We have a "Nordic Night" fundraiser coming up on Sunday, 11/28 from 1-4pm. We will need about 11 parents to volunteer to drive a group of 4 skiers to local neighborhoods. Please be sure to complete your volunteer paperwork ASAP with CRHS. With the Thanksgiving holiday ocming up, you don't want to wait until the last minute. Even if you only have a middle schooler, since this is a High School event, you need to complete the forms with CRHS. The Boosters will share all the details at Monday's parent meeting at 6pm. Hope to see you all there! Here is the link to for the volunteer forms: https://www.ahschools.us/domain/2750?fbclid=IwAR2cTE2KRRBAkrHsa7MV72ZJ5JN6V31VRjAbmDuyRs-nXLTZDr9VK0S5TII. Thank you."

First Day of Practice

Tomorrow, Monday, Nov 15, is the first day of practice!! We will meet outside the ski room in the main hallway downstairs at the high school and then practice will start at 3:15 once the middle schoolers arrive. We will be on foot for practice, so running shoes will be needed, but we will also be inside and outside, so clothes to workout in for outside and colder temps will be needed.  Also, practice will go until about 5:15.

For anyone that checked out roller skis over the summer, we will need for you to return those before practice as well.  We want to make sure they are all in good order, but also to make sure we can use them with everyone on the team.

If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

your sport.

CRHS Nordic Ski Team: 2021-2022 Fundraising
The 2021-2022 CRHS Nordic Ski season is finally here! Each year, the CRHS Nordic Ski Booster Club supports the CRHS Nordic Ski Team in a variety of ways. Examples include:
• Providing equipment for new skiers
• Providing ski wax and waxing equipment
• Providing snacks and meals at select meets and winter camp
• Salary for assistant coach
• Trail passes for practices or winter camp
• Lodging for select meets
The booster club needs skiers to fundraise in order to achieve the items listed above. This year, we are asking skiers to participate in THREE fundraisers: 1) selling Heggie’s pizzas, 2) bagging groceries at Cub Foods and 3) door-to-door fundraising (more details below).
Selling Heggie’s Pizzas
We are asking each skier to sell a minimum of fifteen (15) pizzas. Families are welcome to make a $75 donation** to the CRHS Nordic Ski Booster Club in lieu of selling pizzas if desired.
15 Pizzas or $75 donation
Skiers can start selling pizzas immediately. Pizza order forms are attached. Order forms must be turned in to Kami Thoen (or Joshua or Jacob Thoen) no later than:
Order Forms Due: January 7, 2022
Skiers/parents will pick up the pizzas in late January (time/date TBD) and deliver them to their customers. Pizzas can be picked up at 12229 Lily Street NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
Grocery Bagging at Cub Foods
Skiers will be bagging groceries at Cub Foods (2050 Northdale Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433) on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Skiers will be assigned shifts and should make their own arrangements for substitutes as needed.
Door-to-door Fundraising
Skiers will solicit donations directly from the Coon Rapids community, going door-to-door in groups (with a parent chaperone), as a team activity on November 28, 2021. More details to be provided at the parent meeting on November 22, 2021.
